Dublin Day 2

This morning we woke up for ‘breakfast’ served from 8-10. We had communicated with Bruce and he was talking the express bus into town from the airport, possibly making it for breakfast. We went down to eat around 9:30 and found cereal, toast and beverages. Yum?! About 9:55 Catia and I were talking and that led to her asking the group, ‘I wonder if Bruce brought the Touchpad (HP)?’ Believe it or not, Bruce had stepped in through the door behind her and answered, ‘Yes.’ Too cool!

After breakfast we toured Dublin Castle and then caught a taxi to the Guinness factory (2 ‘n’s in Guinness). After a nice tour and a pint we tried to taxi back into the city center for our reservation on the Viking Splash riding tour. We found a taxi but the driver said it was a 2 minute walk and refused our fare. Catia took directions and we set off on foot.

Meantime, I did a Google maps thang and to me it looked like a 1.8 km walk projected to take 23 minutes. At that point we had 15 minutes till our 4 pm reservation. We set out on foot and I tried to make sense of it. After another Google maps search I found a close address for Viking Splash that the cabbie was cueing from. I then made a call to the company and the office was close but the tour was as far as I had found originally. I explained the sitch and they said they’d hold the start for 5 minutes. HUSTLE!

We barely made it but the tour was great. On the way back home we stopped for McDonald’s for the kids and I found my required geocache on Grafton street amidst the bustle.

While the kids ate, the adults had happy hour and a warm reunion.
